On June 21, 2017, an unnamed woman suffered a gruesome accident inside an elevator at the Conch Building on Zhongshan West Road in Shanghai, the Daily Mail reported.

Disturbing surveillance footage, obtained by the outlet, captured the moment the short-haired woman, distracted by her phone, stepped into the lift – without realizing it had already started moving.

As she entered, she tripped and fell forward, her right leg slipping between the closing doors. In a horrifying turn, the elevator suddenly ascended, trapping her limb and dragging it upwards.

A second woman, who had been walking behind her, narrowly avoided the catastrophic fate by hesitating at the door.

The malfunctioning lift continued to rise for three floors before coming to a halt. The woman, still conscious, lay on the floor awaiting help – her lower leg completely severed below the knee.

The terrifying accident has now been recreated in a simulation by Zack D. Films, a content creator known for digital reconstructions of real-life tragedies.

In a clip shared on Instagram, Zack narrates the horrifying sequence: “She tripped on the rising lift and fell forward. Her leg slipped between the closing doors. It continued to ascend, dragging her trapped leg with brutal force.”

He continued: “Within moments, her leg was completely severed, leaving behind only a stump. Rescue teams arrived quickly, but the damage was catastrophic.”

According to the YouTuber, the elevator’s faulty operation, combined with the woman’s distraction, turned the situation deadly.

The graphic simulation has shaken social media users, with many admitting they were left traumatized after watching the clip.

“I’m f***ing traumatized,”** one viewer commented. “Traumatized in 34 seconds,” another wrote.

“That’s why I’m afraid to use elevators,” a third admitted. “This made my heart sink into my rib cage,” one person shared. “My ankle hurts watching this,” another added.

No further information is available about the woman’s recovery or whether she even survived.

Zack D. Films’ latest video follows another simulation he shared of a woman who got her hair caught in a conveyor belt at a milk factory.

The horrific incident occurred at an Aavin dairy plant in Tiruvallur, India, according to the New Indian Express.

The victim, 30-year-old K. Umarani, was a contract worker employed by Sasi Enterprises, and she was working on the production line when her dupatta (a long scarf or shawl) got entangled in a conveyor belt which further led to her hair getting caught.

“Before she could react, she was pulled in, and her hair was caught as well. She was instantly decapitated. Other workers alerted plant authorities and police,” a police official said.

Following the accident, Milk and Dairy Development Minister T. Mano Thangaraj called it an “unfortunate accident caused due to negligence” and announced changes to factory protocols.

“According to the standard operating procedure (SOP) at Aavin plants, wearing a shawl is not allowed in the packing section. However, a few female staff members preferred to wear it, so they were permitted to do so. The SOP will be revised to make wearing an overcoat mandatory,” he added.

Thangaraj also clarified that the conveyor belt in the packing section moved at a slow pace and had no mechanical faults.

Authorities have since taken action and arrested Varun Kumar, the supervisor of the Kakkalur dairy unit, on charges of causing death due to negligence. Additionally, Ajith Kumar, deputy general manager of the unit, was suspended.

Aavin also confirmed that departmental action had been initiated against officials from the company’s engineering department and two other staff members.
