Tried many things but this is the only method I swear by

Cleaning a greasy oven hood filter may seem daunting, but my Nana’s trick makes it almost effortless — no scrubbing or harsh chemicals required.

Why it matters: Grease buildup blocks airflow, traps odors, and can even become a fire hazard. Regular cleaning keeps your kitchen safe and efficient.

Nana’s Simple Trick: Boiling Water + Baking Soda

You’ll need:

A large pot or deep basin

Boiling water

¼–½ cup baking soda

Tongs or gloves

Steps:

Boil water until it’s rolling.

Add baking soda slowly to avoid fizzing.

Submerge the filter completely (one side at a time if needed).

Soak 10–15 minutes. Watch the grease lift off and float to the surface.

Rinse under warm water and, if needed, lightly scrub.

Air dry before reinstalling.

How it works: The heat melts the grease, while baking soda’s mild alkalinity breaks it down naturally. Together, they create a powerful, eco-friendly degreaser.

Bonus tip: Clean every 2–3 months. For stubborn grime, add a splash of vinegar or a gentle dish soap scrub.

It’s cheap, safe, and effective — Nana’s trick turns a dreaded task into a quick, satisfying win.
