TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and HomeGoods Roll Out New Plan to Fight Shoplifting!

Next time you visit ⁤TJ Maxx, Marshalls, or HomeGoods, you might notice staff wearing body cameras. This new step, brought in by the parent company TJX Companies, is meant to improve safety for both shoppers and ⁣workers.

“Body cameras are just one of the many ways we try to keep a ‌safe store environment,” a spokesperson from TJX told Boston 25 News. “This ⁢includes various policies, training sessions and procedures. We hope these body cameras will help us calm down situations, prevent crime⁣ and show our ⁤associates and customers that we take safety seriously in ‌our stores.” Only trained staff will use the cameras.

Retail expert ‌Carol Spieckerman shared her thoughts on this decision. ⁢She pointed out that the unpredictable stock at TJX stores can make⁣ it hard to keep track of things. “A big part of their model is this unpredictable⁣ treasure-hunt feel… that’s what encourages more frequent visits,” she explained to the Boston Globe.

It’s not clear when ⁢these cameras will start working but TJX mentioned that video recordings will only be shared if law enforcement asks⁢ for them or if there’s a legal request.

What do you think about this new safety plan? Is ‍it too much ‌or could it make shopping safer?
