We are saddened to announce the passing of Sandy Posey,

the beloved 1960s singer, at 80. She passed away peacefully

at her Tennessee home, surrounded by her partner, Wade Cummins.

Born in Jasper, Alabama, Sandy’s musical career began in Memphis,

where she gained fame as a session singer. Her hit “Born a Woman”

reached No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1966, earning her a Grammy

nomination.Sandy’s hits like “Single Girl” and “What a Woman in Love Won’t Do”

blended pop and country. She also backed stars like Elvis Presley

and Percy Sledge. Her soulful voice and music continue to inspire. Rest in peace, Sandy.
