I PAID FOR A STRANGERâS GROCERIES TWO YEARS AGOâAND TODAY, I GOT THIS IN THE MAIL It came with no return address. Just my name, written neatly on the front of the envelope in handwriting I didnât recognize. Inside was a folded note and a twenty-dollar bill, held in place with a single strip of clear tape. The letter started with: âMiss Emily, You may not remember usâŚâ And honestly, I didnât. Not at first. But as I kept reading, it started coming back in piecesâan exhausted couple at the checkout line, their card getting declined, the baby crying in the cart. I remembered the cashier rolling her eyes. I remembered how fast I pulled out my debit card, how I muttered âItâs fine, just let them goâ and then forgot all about it by the time I got to my car. Apparently, they didnât. âYou paid for our groceries in a crowded supermarket. It makes me almost cry to think about it. We are back on our feet, and my husband and I want to say thank you for your courage and love for mi familia.â I just stared at it, stunned. But thenâjust before the signatureâI saw something strange. The handwriting at the bottom didnât match the top. It was from a child. Written in shaky pencil was: âMy mamĂĄ said you are why I want to help people now. I hope I can find you again before I leave.â No explanation. Before they leave where? I flipped the envelope over. And saw something that made my breath catch in my throatâ (continue reading in the first cá´mment)

I THOUGHT SOMEONE WAS LEAVING A TICKET ON MY CARâBUT IT WAS A $50 SURPRISE It had already been one of those days. You know the kindâlate to work, spilled coffee on my shirt, toddler meltdown in the backseat because I gave him the wrong granola bar. And of course, the bumper situation wasnât helping. Iâd been driving around with it half-dangling for weeks, hoping no one would notice. Spoiler: they noticed. So when I saw a folded piece of paper tucked under my windshield wiper, I immediately groaned. âGreat,â I muttered. âNow a ticket.â But when I unfolded it, I froze. It wasnât a fine. Or a complaint. Or one of those passive-aggressive notes about how my car was an âeyesore for the neighborhood.â It was a $50 bill. And a handwritten message that just said: âI saw that your car is missing a front bumper. Hopefully this helps a little. Sincerely, Someone trying to be a better person this year.â I just stood there, holding it, blinking like an idiot in the middle of the grocery store lot while people walked past like nothing happened. I looked around. No one in sight. No camera crew waiting to catch a reaction. Just the sound of my son whispering from the backseat, âMommy? Are you happy-crying?â But here’s the weird part. I took the note home. Slipped it into the junk drawer. And this morning, when I went to show it to my sister⌠There was another one. Different handwriting. Same (continue reading in the first cá´mment)
