Television icon and host Chuck Woolery would be remembered as one of the most beloved TV figures of game shows.
Woolery, knows as the first host ofĀ Wheel of FortuneĀ passed away aged 83 following an illness. The news was confirmed by his long-time friend Mark Young who posted onĀ X, āIt is with a broken heart that I tell you that my dear brother @chuckwoolery has just passed away. Life will not be the same without him, RIP brother.ā
As reported byĀ TMZ,Ā Young told the outlet that Woolery āsaid he wasnāt feeling well and went to lie down.ā Later, Woolery returned and mentioned that āhe was having trouble breathing.ā Young then claimed that 911 was called but āhe didnāt make it.ā
Except for one of the most famous game shows,Ā Wheel of Fortune,Ā Woolery also hostedĀ Love ConnectionĀ andĀ LingoĀ among the rest.
In later years, Woolery hosted the podcastĀ Blunt Force Truth, a popular right-wing podcast. In it, the television icon shared his conservative views.
Woolery was born on March 16, 1941, in Ashland, Kentucky. At the start of his career, he tried himself in music with the bandĀ The Avant-GardeĀ that he formed together with Elkin āBubbaā Fowler in 1967. It was their songĀ Naturally StonedĀ that helped them grow to fame.
The television icon was married four times. He was inducted into the American TV Game Show Hall of Fame in 2007.
Woolery will be remember as someone who made millions laugh. May he rest in peace.
