Mic catches JD Vance complaining about Donald Trump during speech to Congress

After an old social media video resurfaced showing JD Vance criticizing Donald Trump

before accepting the role of Vice President, the politician has found himself in yet another awkward situation.

This week, a hot mic accidentally picked up Vance, 40, making a joke at the expense

of his 78-year-old Republican boss during an appearance in front of Congress on Tuesday (March 4), just before Trump’s speech.

Father-of-five Trump delivered his first speech to lawmakers yesterday since returning

to the White House, following his January inauguration and a four-year absence from office.

In his address, the President outlined his main priorities for the upcoming

term, with a strong focus on trade tariffs and the ongoing situation in Ukraine.

During the event, a candid moment between Speaker Mike Johnson and JD Vance

was caught on a hot mic, revealing a blunt assessment of Trump’s speaking endurance.

Before Trump took the podium, the two were chatting in Congress, seemingly unaware

that the microphone in front of them was live.

“By the way, I think the speech is going to be great,” Vance was heard saying,

before adding, “But I don’t know how you do this for 90 minutes.”

Johnson responded, “The hardest thing was doing it during Biden,” before hastily

lowering the microphone, appearing to realize only then that it might have been on.

“When his speech was a stupid campaign speech,” he added.

What made the moment even more intriguing was that Vance then turned to Johnson

and said, “Man, I’ve got to be honest…” before leaning in close and whispering something

into the speaker’s ear—effectively hiding whatever juicy detail he was about to reveal.

Meanwhile, this latest controversy unfolds as a viral video has been circulating

on social media, showing Vance harshly criticizing Trump in the past.

The TikTok clip begins with a recent interview from the RNC in July, where

Vance confidently states, “I will be a vice president that never forgets where he came from.”

Then, the screen fades to black, with an ominous caption appearing: “Weird. Here’s where JD Vance came from.”

What follows is a montage of older footage, including a clip of a younger, clean-shaven Vance bluntly admitting, “I never liked him.”

Another clip shows the father of three admitting before a previous election,

“I don’t know who I’m going to vote for—I’m definitely not going to vote for Trump.”

In a third recording, he confesses, “My current plan is to vote either third-party or, as I joke to my wife,

I might write in my dog.” A fourth clip captures him saying, “What Trump is, is just another opioid.”

A radio segment later features the now-vice president openly admitting, “I can’t stomach Trump.

I think that he’s obnoxious and is leading the white working class to a very dark place.”
