Joy Behar Took A Bad Fall Off Of Her Chair On An Episode of ‘The View’

Is there anything more embarrassing than accidentally taking a spill in front of someone—let alone on live TV? Joy Behar accidentally fell out of her seat on a live episode of The View, hitting the ground with a bang.

Behar’s co-hosts immediately rushed to her side to help her off the ground, right before moderator Whoopi Goldberg retorted, “These chairs move!”

It’s “happened to all of us at one time or another,” said Sunny Hostin, with Behar immediately following up with: “25 years, that has never happened [to me].” The crowd went crazy over that one.

“Who do I sue?” the 79-year-old continued. “My husband is home laughing, I bet.”

She’s a comedian!

So what exactly happened here? After she finally got settled into her seat, Behar explained that she just went “flying.”

Sara Haines noted that the chairs are really “high,” and then Goldberg made a joke about how it “takes a glass of wine to get into the chair.”

After Goldberg asked Behar if she was okay, Behar responded with: “I just missed the step, as usual.”

The jokes continued as the show began. Goldberg made a joke that the hosts were texting before the show accusing Haines of tripping Behar, but that wasn’t the case.

“Today, I did not trip her. Today,” said Haines.

The conversation did eventually take a turn to discuss some of the serious ramifications that can come of falling—and not just embarrassment. Since Bob Saget recently died of head trauma after he hit his head, that was a point that came up.

“Well, you know, I fall a lot. The main thing, just to talk seriously, when Bob Saget fell, he died. If you hit your head and you feel dizzy or you have blurred vision or you feel like you want to go to sleep, go to the doctor because that will kill you,” Behar said.

“But I’ve fallen a lot. I fall all the time. I’m a klutz!” she added. “But this chair, this chair was like the exorcist. It was spring!”

Moral of the story: Take your time when sitting down—especially if you’re live on the air, and especially when the chairs are extra high!
