When you find⣠yourself in a new area, even if itâs just outside your hometown,
thereâs âŁa chance youâll come†across âcultures and â€customsâ youâve never heard of before.
Thereâs a custom followed by many†rural Americans thatâ city folks
might not âąknow about. âBefore you learn what it means, hereâs some advice: donât mess with boots on fences.
On theâ fences that border fields of crops or grasslands, you might
notice aâ cowboy boot hanging upside down on aâ post! It looks odd but did you knowâą it has more†meaning?
Itâs best to leave these boots alone sinceâ they were placed there for a reason.
Why? Ranchersâ sometimes do⣠this to remember their favorite horse
that has died! They may also hang up a pair ofâ boots off the fence too.
Just like we feel about our pets ranchers can form strong âŁbondsâ with their horses!
Any horse owner âwould probably agree; they are âas much loved familyâ
members as people feel about their⣠dogs or cats which means when they pass away itâs really hard.
So âsome folks will choose to give up one or two bootsâ to honor âthem!
Sometimes âąa âboot on âŁthe fence âstands for someone else†too often referring to an old saying âa pair ofâ boots for âŁevery hand.â
So if âąyouâre ever out and see one in nature itâs best justâ to leave it⣠be!
While it could âbe innocent⣠there is alsoâ likelyhood itâs â€actually
honoring someone which means it should be respected and left alone.
