Gogglebox star Pat Webb has sadly died aged 75 after suffering with a ‘long illness’.
Channel 4 has since shared a statement on the matter.
It reads: “We are deeply saddened to announce that Gogglebox star Mummy Pat Webb passed away this weekend at the age of 75 after a long illness.
“Pat was a much loved cast member on the show from series 10 -12 alongside her son Stephen.”
The statement continued: “Mummy Pat will be remembered and missed by her children Stephen, Denise, Sharon, Beverley and the extended family.
“Our thoughts are with the family who have requested privacy at this sad time.”
Stephen also took to Instagram to remember his mum, writing: “Mummy Pat, you were one in a million, took everyone at face value, would share your last fiver with a stranger, the salt of the earth and the absolute centre of our world! Rest in peace mum.”
Fans of the show have since rushed in to share their condolences after hearing the news with one X, formerly Twitter, user writing: “So sorry to hear this. The Gogglebox family feels like an extension of my family. Condolences to Stephen and the rest of the family.”
A second penned: “Condolences to all who knew her. Come across as a genuinely nice person.”
“That’s such sad news. My sincerest condolences to family and friends,” offered a third, while a fourth chimed in: “Aww this is so sad thinking of Stephen and the rest of his family at this sad time.”
Another added: “Rest in peace Pat you were a star.”
A final Twitter user echoed: “Ah this is so sad. She, and of course Stephen, brought many laughs to our lounge.
“Sleep tight, Pat.”
Stephen announced his departure from Gogglebox last year (7 September), 10 years after he made his first appearance alongside his then-partner Christopher Steed.
The pair formed part of the original cast of the series when it arrived in 2013, and throughout the years Stephen has become a staple of the show.
He was joined on the sofa by his mum, Pat, in 2017 after Christopher left the series, but later settled down in front of the telly with his current partner, Daniel Lustig-Webb.
The pair both work in a hair salon, but Gogglebox has allowed them to boost their earnings each month.
So, how much did Stephen earn?
Well, The Sun reports that each Gogglebox family receives £1,500 every month for their appearances. The money is split between each member of the family, but considering most people watch TV for free, a few hundred pounds is pretty decent.
The groups are asked to watch 12 hours of TV a week, split into two six-hour shifts, meaning they can work their viewing habits around any day jobs they might have.
