Nearly a week after the tragic deaths of Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, the
investigation into their passing remains ongoing, with many questions still unanswered.
The couple was found dead in their Santa Fe, New Mexico home on February 26, with Hackman,
95, discovered in a mudroom in a state of partial mummification and Arakawa in a bathroom
next to a bottle of pills, raising suspicions. Despite initial reports ruling out foul
play and speculation of carbon monoxide poisoning, no evidence of a gas leak was found.
Hackman’s pacemaker indicated he likely died on February 17, nine days before his body was found.
Neighbors, who described the couple as reclusive and rarely seen, shed light on Hackman’s
