When they discovered Hidey⁢ on the streets, it was clear she was in bad shape. Cats are often ‍thought⁢ of as self-sufficient, but certain breeds require regular grooming. ‍Hidey had been neglected for ⁤many ‍years because her owner couldn’t take care of⁣ her fur. Rescuers first thought‌ she looked like ⁢an alien ​due to her tangled coat.

Paul Russell, who found her said “My gosh this is ⁣a cat.” ​Hidey is a fourteen-year-old feline who was rescued by a​ couple that ⁣loves animals and⁤ brought to‌ the Animal Rescue League‍ Shelter and Wildlife Center.

Her neglect ⁤happened​ because of her owner’s Alzheimer’s disease which left Hidey unable to groom herself⁤ properly. She became a symbol for caring about older​ people and their pets.

Dan Rossi the CEO pointed out how important it is for elderly people to have help with their pets. Hidey’s fur was ⁣so badly matted that it looked like dreadlocks!

After medical staff shaved off all the knots in her fur ,Hidey went on to live ‍with a family member. This ⁤whole situation shows how crucial it is to support older pet owners!
