Easy Homemade Mint Solution to Naturally Keep Bugs Away

Flies and small bugs can quickly disrupt a kitchen, but a simple homemade mix using mint toothpaste, baking soda, and vinegar offers a

natural solution. Affordable and chemical-free, it’s safe for most households and works especially well near sinks, trash bins, and windows.

The key lies in mint’s refreshing scent, which many insects dislike. To make the mix, combine 1 tablespoon each of mint toothpaste,

baking soda, and vinegar with ½ cup lukewarm water. For extra strength, add a few drops of peppermint oil

(skip this if you have pets). Stir well, then pour into shallow containers like jar lids or use cotton swabs for hidden spots.

Place the containers near doors, windows, or behind appliances. Within hours, you’ll likely notice fewer insects

and a fresher smell. Refresh the solution every 2–3 days, as the scent fades over time. Pairing this trick with

good cleaning—wiping surfaces, sealing food, and emptying trash—makes it even more effective.

Though generally safe, keep the mixture out of children’s and pets’ reach, and test on delicate surfaces first.

Used regularly, this simple method helps maintain a clean, bug-free home while avoiding harsh chemicals.
