Dad Receives Coded Text Message From Son, Rushes To Help Him

As soon as a dad saw that his teenage son sent him a coded text message with just the letter X, he knew what that meant. You’re going to want to know what it means, too.

In the middle of the night, West Virginia father Bert Fulks received a coded text message with only the letter “X” from his teenage son. Immediately, the dad sprung into action, calling his son to tell him that he would be there in five minutes to pick him up. This is what Fulks calls the “X-Plan”: A lifeline for teens who want an easy and discreet way to leave any uncomfortable situation. Fulks, a pastor, got the idea when talking to a group of teens in addiction clinics.

“Recently I asked these kids a simple question,” he explained. “‘How many of you have found yourself in situations where things started happening that you weren’t comfortable with, but you stuck around, mainly because you felt like you didn’t have a way out?’ They all raised their hands.”

The father-of-three decided to use that information to create a plan for his own teens in case they ever found themselves in a situation where they were uncomfortable. He wrote about the plan on his website, and now, he is receiving national attention, as parents from all over are adopting his advice.

“Let’s say that my youngest, Danny, gets dropped off at a party,” wrote Fulks. “If anything about the situation makes him uncomfortable, all he has to do is text the letter ‘X’ to any of us (his mother, me, his older brother or sister). The one who receives the text has a very basic script to follow.”

Within a few minutes, the person who received the “X” text is to call the person who texted them. In Pastor Fulks’ case, that person would be his son, Danny. When Danny answers with a simple “Hello,” the dad would say something like, “Danny, something’s come up and I have to come get you right now.”

Danny then follows up with “What happened?” to which Fulks would respond, “I’ll tell you when I get there. Be ready to leave in five minutes. I’m on my way.” At that point, Danny would tell his friends that there was an unforeseen emergency at home, someone is coming to get him, and he has to leave.

“The X-plan comes with the agreement that we will pass no judgments and ask no questions,” Fulks wrote. “This can be a hard thing for some parents (admit it, some of us are complete control-freaks); but I promise it might not only save them, but it will go a long way in building trust between you and your kid.”

Overwhelmed by the positive response to his post, Fulks said he hopes it will encourage meaningful conversations to take place between parents and their children in the future, according to PEOPLE. “The most incredible thing for me personally is I’ve heard from so many parents all over the world, who as a result, have started having conversations with their kids. To play a tiny part in that, I’m just truly humbled,” said the pastor.

THE OLD MAN CAME TO THE CINEMA ALONE EVERY DAY FOR YEARS, BUYING TWO TICKETS AND WAITING—ONE DAY, SOMEONE FINALLY SAT BESIDE HIM At 70, Henry’s days were always the same: he put on his suit, bought flowers, and headed to the movie theater. Every single day, he’d buy two tickets for the morning show. The staff would joke, “Why 2 tickets, sir? You’re always alone.” But Henry didn’t care—he was waiting. 30 years ago, Henry fell in love: the kind of love that takes your breath away. Clara was a ticket counter at the movie theater. Sparks flew, their romance was like a dream. Candlelit dinners, laughter, passionate words… and one special night together. Saying goodbye, Henry asked her to meet him at the morning show to see her as soon as possible. But she never showed. Not the next day, not the day after. Turned out, she’d been fired. His love was gone, just like that. Life moved on, but not for Henry. Clara was always in his heart—especially after he lost his wife. That’s when it hit him — it was about time. From that day on, he went to that very cinema, bought 2 tickets, and sat in an empty hall, holding onto a tiny hope that she might sit beside him again. That day, as hope was fading once more, Henry buried face in his hands, wiping tears. It was so foolish… But then, he heard it: soft footsteps. That scent. A presence so hauntingly familiar it made his heart stop. Henry froze. He was scared to look. But somehow, he found the courage to lift his head.😱👀⬇️Continues in the comments

I FOUND LOVE AGAIN 3 YEARS AFTER HUSBAND’S DEATH — ONE DAY MY DAUGHTER SAID, “MOMMY, NEW DAD ASKED ME TO KEEP A SECRET FROM YOU. IS THAT OKAY?” It had been three years since my husband passed in a work accident, and I was finally ready to open my heart again. Ethan came into our lives like a breath of fresh air—kind, attentive, and making my 6-year-old daughter Mia smile in ways I hadn’t seen in years. We married two months ago, and he moved into my house. One evening, as I tucked Mia into bed, she hesitated, gripping her stuffed bunny tightly. Her big eyes searched mine before she whispered, “Mommy, new Dad asked me to keep a secret from you. Is that okay?” Her question stopped me cold. “No, sweetheart. You can tell me anything.” Mia bit her lip. “New Dad said I shouldn’t tell you… but yesterday, I woke up early and went looking for him. I couldn’t find him anywhere.” A strange unease crept over me. “What happened next?” “I called for him, but no answer. Then I saw him and a lady come out of the basement together. He told me not to tell you. But you always say not to keep secrets, so I didn’t know what to do.” My breath caught. The basement? It was just an old, dusty space with boxes. Why would Ethan take anyone there? “What did she look like?” I asked, keeping my voice calm. “She was really pretty, Mommy. She had long blond hair, like a princess, and a red dress. She smelled nice, too.” That night, I confronted Ethan. “Mia said there was a woman here yesterday, and you took her to the basement. Care to explain?”⬇️😳Story continues in the comments
