A Katy, Texas, man, Kevin Dominguez, was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison
for assaulting a Border Patrol agent while smuggling migrants. On August 1, 2023,
a canine alert led agents to a person in his trunk, but Dominguez fled, hitting an agent.
Authorities later arrested, seven more undocumented individuals and linked Jesus
David Reyes-Villagran to the operation. He and others face up to 10 years in prison.
Meanwhile, Honduran citizen Melvin Armando Funes-Canales was arrested for illegal re-entry.
