Micaela had always trusted her husband, Travis, believing their marriage was built on love.
But everything changed after a simple joke. Before Travis left for his office Christmas party,
Micaela wrote a playful message on his chest: “This is my husband. If you touch him, you’ll pay for
it. – M.” When he came home late and drunk, Micaela noticed a strange reply on his chest: “Keep the change.”
At first, she thought it was a joke, but unease lingered. When she brought it up, Travis dismissed it,
claiming he didn’t remember. Doubt gnawed at her, and after confiding in her mother, Micaela reluctantly
tracked Travis’s car. One evening, when he claimed to be working late, Micaela discovered his car parked
in an unfamiliar neighborhood. What she found shattered her—Travis was kissing another woman.
Confronting them, the woman said, “You deserve better. Men like him are easy to throw away.” The words hit Micaela hard.
Travis stood frozen, speechless. That night, Micaela packed her bags and left. The joke on Travis’s chest had been
the catalyst, but the real betrayal had been there all along.
