Not everyone likes every show, and that’s okay. Not everyone has the same political view, and that’s also okay. But are there times that TV shows and the personalities on the shows might be a little bit too influential in a negative way?
Comedian Bill Maher thinks so, but he wasn’t joking. He described the show “The View” as “not the best advertisement for women.”
On his Club Random podcast, he discussed his thoughts about the show with actress and talk show host Drew Barrymore. Even though Maher’s political beliefs are liberal, he still thinks the ladies on “The View” are too much. He described their view as “a lot.” He added, “I don’t know if they’re really at this moment the best advertisement for women.”
Barrymore didn’t specifically agree or disagree with him, but she shared her perspective that “The View” is a typical talk show.
Maher was dismissive of that idea and pushed back explaining, “They say some things that are, like, not helpful to say [during] elections.”
While he may not agree with the show or feel that it’s good for women, he claims he is friend with and “loves” several of the show’s hosts. The hosts of the show includes Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, Sara Haines, and Alyssa Farah Griffin.
Behar has previously been quite vocal about her distain for President Donald Trump, and if Trump has anything to do with it, “The View” may not be on the air much longer. According to The Daily Beast, in July, the White House threatened that “The View” might be “the next show to be pulled off air.” This came after Behar joked the Trump was jealous of former President Barack Obama.
“The View” is currently on hiatus, but that doesn’t mean the show is going off the air. It has gone on hiatus every summer since it first went on the air in 1997.
