An Australian actress and journalist is mourning the devastating loss of her 13-year-old son, who passed away after enduring months of severe bullying at school. In a deeply emotional Instagram post, she expressed her grief and urged for stronger measures to protect children from harassment and violence in schools.
Her son, Atreyu, had recently started Year 7 at South Sydney High School, where he reportedly faced ongoing physical and verbal abuse. Despite repeated reports to school officials and the Department of Education, she said little was done to intervene. Describing him as “the brightest light in my world—kind, creative, and endlessly loved,” she shared how the constant mistreatment destroyed his spirit.
In his memory, she launched a GoFundMe campaign seeking to raise funds for legal and medical expenses, as well as to support initiatives aimed at anti-bullying education and family assistance programs. Her mission is to ensure that no other child endures what her son went through.

Atreyu had already begun acting, appearing in productions such as Deadly Women, Black Truck, and Benefited, showing remarkable potential and creativity. His mother has vowed to use her voice and platform to drive change, calling for greater accountability, stronger school policies, and compassionate support for children and families affected by bullying.
