Film Actor Known Dies At 75

British actor Tom Wilkinson has more than 130 acting credits to his name. Some of his best-known projects include “The Full Monty,” “Michael Clayton,” “In the Bedroom,” and “The Grand Budapest Hotel.” His most recent role was in the Disney+ series “The Full Monty,” in which he reprised his role as Gerald.

Now, Wilkinson’s agent has released the sad news that the talented actor has died. In a statement shared with Deadline, his agent explained, “It is with great sadness that the family of Tom Wilkinson announce that he died suddenly at home on December 30.” The statement continued, “His wife and family were with him. The family asks for privacy at this time.”

Wilkinson was 75 years old. The statement did not include a cause of death.

Wilkinson’s career in entertainment began when he was asked to direct a play when he was just 18 years old. In 1986, he was given his first role on screen. He first became popular in his home country of England but later became internationally famous.

Wilkinson was nominated for a BAFTA for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in the 1997 film “The Full Monty.” You can see a trailer for the film in the video below.

He was nominated for a total of four Emmy Awards. In 2008, he was nominated for two Emmy awards. One was for his role in HBO’s mini-series “John Adams.” He ended up winning the Emmy for this role, portraying Benjamin Franklin. The other Emmy nomination that year was for his role in the HBO movie “Recount.” His other two Emmy nominations were for “Normal” in 2003 and “The Kennedys” in 2011.

Wilkinson is survived by his wife, Diana Hardcastle. The couple had been married since January 1988, and they had two children together. He is also survived by their children, Alice and Molly.
