Marine guard ignores little boy, then people notice what he does with his left hand

Founded in 1947 by reservist Major Bill Hendricks, Toys for Tots represents a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve which distributes toys to children whose families cannot afford to buy them gifts for the most wonderful season of the year.

The mission of this program is to collect and distribute new unwrapped toys to unprivileged children for Christmas.

According to their website, “The Foundation provides the leadership, funding, and support needed for successful annual toy collection and distribution campaigns.”

Back in 1997, the program launched what is one of the most beautiful commercials we’ve ever seen.

YouTube

Each Christmas, this commercial is shared by a number of people who wish for the holiday spirit to be spread around.

It features a young boy with a piece of paper in his hands approaching a Marine and asking him if he’s Santa Claus.

The Marine stands still because he’s on his job and doesn’t seem to pay attention to the boy who’s talking to him.

The boy then asks the same question again and then hands the piece of paper, which turns out to be his wish list for Christmas, to the guard, hoping his wishes to be granted this season.

To everyone’s surprise and delight, the guard, without making any eye contact with the boy, opens his hand and takes the boy’s list.

The commercial is supposed to raise awareness of the importance of the mission by Toys For Tots. It is a reminder that there are children out there who would not be getting any gifts, and that each and every one of us can help make a difference in a child’s life.

MY NEIGHBOR KEPT DRIVING OVER MY LAWN TO SHORTCUT TO HER YARD – I CAME UP WITH A CRAFTY LESSON. After my divorce, I moved into a quiet North Carolina cul-de-sac and poured my heart into my new lawn. Flowers, solar lights, the whole peaceful-vibe package. Enter Sabrina. Loud, high heels, Lexus SUV, and apparently zero respect. Instead of driving the loop like a normal person, she took a daily shortcut — right through my lawn. At first, it was just the edge. Then full diagonal tire tracks, roses crushed. I politely asked her to stop. Her response? “Oh honey, your flowers will grow back. I’m just in a rush sometimes.” I warned her I’d put something up. She smirked and drove off. So I added decorative rocks. She just moved them with her car. Three times. Sabrina thought that if I don’t have a husband to stand up for me, then she’s allowed to offend me. NO! That’s when I stopped playing nice. I had a plan. A CREATIVE, legal, and very satisfying plan. What I did is in the comments. ⬇️

I FOUND FOUR BOXER PUPPIES ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD—AND ONE OF THEM HAD A COLLAR THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING I wasn’t planning to stop. It was already a rough morning, and I was late to meet a client. But there they were—four little boxer pups huddled next to a ditch on County Road 12, shaking like leaves and covered in mud. I pulled over without thinking. No mom in sight. No house nearby. Just them and an empty box half-collapsed in the grass. I used an old hoodie to scoop them up and called in late. Took them straight home, gave them a quick bath in the laundry sink, and let them nap on a pile of towels. I figured I’d post about them in the local lost pets group, maybe get them scanned for chips. That’s when I noticed the yellow collar on one of them. It was grimy and worn, but there was a little tag tucked behind the clasp—handwritten. Not a name, not a phone number. Just two words: “Not Yours.” I don’t know why, but that gave me chills. I showed my buddy Tate, who’s a vet tech, and he got real quiet when he saw the tag. Told me he’d seen something like it before, but wouldn’t say where. I pressed him, and after a long pause, he finally said, “These pups might not be as lost as you think. You should be careful who you tell.” That’s when I realized—this wasn’t just about finding homes for a few puppies….⤵️
