Tom Selleck says he owes everything to Jesus: ‘A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps’

Tom Selleck has it all. He’s a household name, he’s adored by people everywhere, and he’s risen to the very top of his profession whilst still maintaining genuine ‘good-guy’ status.
And yet, underneath all the glitz and the glam, all the fame and the influence, there exists a humble man who attributes his success to his faith and life of service to the Lord Above

It was when he returned to Hollywood that his resolve was most tested. Selleck had been fired, and in many ways was knocked back a couple of steps with regards to his ultimate aims and objectives.

Of course, Tom Selleck is Tom Selleck, and he wasn’t about to let something like that get in his way. He fought himself back into contention and his career took off in a big way soon after. He credits one man for his good fortune.

“A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps,” Selleck said. “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.”

“I try very hard to conduct myself in an ethical way, because that’s important to my stability now,” he said, as per New York Daily News.
“We’re a culture that’s so centered on the individual. The culture says that basically nothing is more important than the way you feel.

“We’re living in an age that celebrates unchecked impulses. I work with exceptional kids, gang kids, deprived kids, enriched kids and they all have an astounding sense of entitlement. They don’t celebrate earning the privilege of driving at 16. They expect a car. There’s a big difference.”

Selleck was a keen basketballer when he left high school, and went on to play for the University of Southern California. It was during his senior year, however, that acting took over his life, and he dropped out of university to better focus on his new-found passion. Eventually, he was handed a contract with Twentieth Century Fox, but little did he know his life was about to take a turn.

Alas, the world and its ways conspired to keep him busy through another endeavour. Selleck was drafted into the United States Army in 1967 and served through until 1973 in the California National Guard.

THE DOG KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG BEFORE ANYONE ELSE DID It was supposed to be a normal coffee run. I was standing in line at the cafe, half-awake, scrolling through my phone, and my dog Nino was laying beside me like he always does—quiet, well-trained, never bothers anyone. That’s when I noticed his ears perk up. He stood, tail stiff, and stared dead ahead at something. I followed his gaze and saw a man holding a little girl’s hand. She looked about six. Tiny. Wearing this pink jacket with cartoon cats on it. Her hair was messy, like she’d just rolled out of bed. At first, nothing seemed off—until she turned her head slightly and looked right at me. I don’t know how to explain it. Her mouth didn’t move, but her eyes… they were screaming. She had this frozen look, like she wanted to say something but couldn’t. Nino let out this low growl. That was weird enough to make me stop everything and really look. The man tugged her sleeve and leaned down to whisper something. She flinched. That was all it took—Nino started barking. Loud, sharp, angry barks. Everyone in line turned to stare. The man froze. He looked straight at me, then down at Nino, then yanked the girl’s hand and started walking fast toward the door. My heart was racing. I knew I couldn’t just watch him leave. I handed my phone to the barista and said, “Call someone. Please.” And then I ran after them. — — — continues in the first

THE NURSING HOME CAT ONLY LOVED ONE MAN—AND AFTER HE PASSED, WE FINALLY UNDERSTOOD WHY Whiskers had been at the nursing home for as long as anyone could remember. The staff swore he’d just appeared one day, strolling in like he belonged. He was picky about people, barely tolerating most of us. But with Mr. Delano? It was different. Every morning, Whiskers would climb onto Mr. Delano’s lap, curling up as the old man stroked his fur with shaky hands. They had a routine—gentle pets, soft whispers, moments of quiet understanding. No one could explain why, but they were inseparable. Then, one evening, Mr. Delano passed away in his sleep. The next morning, we expected Whiskers to be by the window, waiting for him. Instead, we found him curled up on Mr. Delano’s empty bed, paws tucked under his chin, eyes half-closed. He didn’t move all day. That night, as we were packing up Mr. Delano’s few belongings, one of the nurses gasped. She had found an old photograph tucked inside his drawer. It was a much younger Mr. Delano, smiling, holding a small black-and-white kitten in his arms. On the back, scribbled in faded ink, were just four words: “My boy, always waiting.” I looked at Whiskers, still curled on the bed, and my breath caught in my throat. Could it really be…? And then, without a sound, Whiskers stood up, stretched… ⬇️⬇️⬇️

I SAW AN ABANDONED DOG THAT CAME TO THE SAME CLOSED STORE EVERY DAY – IT BROKE MY HEART WHEN I FOLLOWED HIM I work at a warehouse. I’ve seen plenty of stray animals, but Ollie was… different. Every single day, at the same time, he’d come by and just stare at the bike shop window with the saddest eyes ever. He had a leash, looked clean—clearly, he used to have an owner. How could someone abandon this amazing dog? What kind of heartless person does that?! It broke my heart. I’d give him food, but he never ate it. He’d just take it in his mouth and run off. I couldn’t take it, so I brought him home. My girlfriend, Mila, was NOT happy about it. She doesn’t like dogs and kept saying stuff like, “Get THAT THING out of here!” But I convinced her to let him stay. Even with a warm home and food, Ollie kept doing the same thing every day—running back to that bike shop window, staring at it like his heart was wrecked. And the food? Still didn’t eat it. Just took it and ran. Yesterday, I couldn’t hold back anymore. So, I followed him. He led me to this old, abandoned house. We got there, and Ollie started digging like crazy. Then, suddenly, we heard faint, strange sounds coming from the ground. But what I saw 15 minutes later… it completely shattered my heart.💔😨
