A quiet neighborhood in Daphne, Alabama, is grieving the tragic loss of a family of four in what authorities have confirmed as a murder-suicide.
On August 14, 2025, Baldwin County deputies discovered the bodies of 44-year-old Kenneth O’Neil Smith Jr., his wife,
41-year-old Larrica Gaines Smith, and their children, 15-year-old Khristian and 11-year-old Kinsley, during a welfare
check at their Sable Court home. A handgun was found at the scene, and investigators confirmed Kenneth as the perpetrator.
Neighbors described the Smiths as a kind, loving family. One recalled the children as sweet and helpful, even babysitting
for nearby families. The tragedy shocked the community, especially as the family had recently celebrated a wedding anniversary.
Tributes have poured in, especially for Larrica, remembered as a gentle soul with promise in real estate.
Her colleagues at EXIT Realty and friends expressed deep sorrow and disbelief.
Both children attended local Daphne schools, where grief counselors are now supporting students and staff.
Sheriff Anthony Lowery offered condolences and encouraged the community to seek help during this difficult time.
