Most body transformation stories highlight weight loss. But a growing number of models are turning that narrative around—celebrating
weight gain and promoting self-love. Viral Strange collected 10 inspiring stories (part one) of models who shared their journeys toward body acceptance.
Iskra Lawrence (@iskra), a body-positive model and Aerie ambassador, posted a before-and-after photo during National
Eating Disorder Awareness Week. She wrote, “My body is mine—perfectly imperfect and my home to be cherished.”
La’Tecia Thomas (@lateciat), now a plus-size model, revealed she didn’t love herself when she was thinner.
“I had so many insecurities… I lacked confidence,” she admitted. Gaining weight brought her self-assurance.
Allison Kimmey (@allisonkimmey) uses her platform to share bikini photos and self-love messages.

“You are worthy of JOY, LOVE, OPPORTUNITY, and… RESPECT,” she reminded her followers.
Dana Patterson (@danaisabellaaa), a model and athlete, opened up about battling an eating disorder.

“Recovery isn’t just possible—it’s at your fingertips,” she wrote. “Your weight, your trauma, do NOT define you.”

Each of these women proves that beauty isn’t about shrinking to fit expectations.
Their stories remind us that gaining weight can also mean gaining confidence, healing, and freedom.
