Selena Gomez posted an unguarded video on her social media sites.
The ‘Wolves’ singer had previously been a vocal advocate for immigration, but she was moved to tears by Donald Trump’s actions during his first week in office.
Gomez’s video was released the day after 956 individuals were detained in a nationwide immigration operation, according to the BBC, as a result of one of the laws that Trump signed into law after assuming the presidency.
Other measures call for the country to recognize only two genders and pardon 1,500 US Capitol rioters.
Gomez, who has previously referred to herself as a “proud third-generation American-Mexican,” feels a strong connection to her Mexican background, even though she was born in Texas, USA.
The 32-year-old then shared a since-deleted video on Instagram in which she was seen crying and expressing her displeasure with Trump’s immigration-cutting policy.
Captioning the video ‘I’m sorry’ with a Mexican flag emoji, she said, “All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don’t understand.”
