Dolly Parton is an American icon: singer–songwriter, multi–instrumentalist, actress, author, businesswoman, and humanitarian. She is one of the most successful and beloved female country music artists of all time, having sold over 100 million records around the world. Parton has written over 3,000 songs, including hits such as “Jolene,” “I Will Always Love You,” and “9 to 5.” As an actress, Parton has appeared in films such as Steel Magnolias, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, and Rhinestone.
In addition to her music and acting career, Parton has founded the Dollywood theme park, the Dollywood Foundation, and the Imagination Library, which provides free books to underprivileged children. Parton has received numerous awards and honors in recognition of her career, including 11 Grammy Awards and an induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
And while she’s on nearly the opposite end of the age spectrum, little nine-year-old Alyvia Alyn Lind has also had quite a career so far. She’s been acting since she was four and, when she was nine, was selected to play Dolly as a girl in the Hallmark TV movies Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors and Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors.
Here we have a video of the two appearing on a TV show and singing together a song that Dolly wrote, “Angel Hill.” Dolly explains that the song appears in the Coat of Many Colors movie but she actually wrote it years before to deal with the grief of losing her little brother when she was a child. I really fell in love with how Alyvia is so young yet so confident and talented. Watch the full video below and please leave us a Facebook comment to let us know what you thought!
