14-Year-Old Girl Passes Away After Cosmetic Surgery – What Paloma Nicole’s Father Was Unaware Of

Tragedy in Durango: The Death of 14-Year-Old Paloma Nicole

An unexpected case in Durango has sparked questions about medical ethics and family responsibility. The death of 14-year-old Paloma Nicole led to complaints and launched an ongoing judicial investigation. Her story reveals contradictions, conflicting testimonies, and a relentless demand for justice.

How It All Began

The events started with a routine COVID-19 scare. Paloma Nicole’s mother told Carlos Arellano, her father, that they would travel to the mountains of Durango to isolate, warning that there might be no signal. Carlos trusted her explanation, unaware that this was only the beginning of a nightmare.

“My girl’s mother told me they were going to the mountains for about four days. She said not to panic if I couldn’t reach them,” Carlos explained. At the time, nothing seemed unusual. But a few days later, he received a call that would change everything.

Hospitalization and Decline

On September 15, Carlos learned his daughter had been hospitalized at Clínica Santa María in serious condition. When he arrived, Paloma Nicole was in an induced coma and intubated after suffering a cardiorespiratory arrest that severely affected her brain.

Doctors worked to stabilize her. By September 19, they noticed signs of improvement—she moved her hand and could turn her head. However, that night her condition worsened. Brain swelling became “very serious, terminal,” and on September 20, she was pronounced brain dead.

Father Reveals Unauthorized Surgery

Carlos publicly denounced that his daughter had undergone cosmetic surgery without his consent. On social media, he wrote:

“Justice for Paloma Nicole! My 14-year-old daughter fell victim to criminal negligence at a clinic on Fénix Street. On September 12, she underwent cosmetic surgery without my consent, performed by Dr. V. M. M. R. G., son of Magistrate V.M.R. L., in complicity with her mother.”

He also alleged that the death certificate falsely listed “illness” as the cause of death, suggesting an attempt to hide the truth. Surgical scars discovered during the wake further confirmed suspicions of unauthorized procedures.

Investigation Underway

The Durango State Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the minor was admitted with respiratory issues but opened an investigation following the father’s complaint.

“The father requested a necropsy, as he confirmed that the teenager underwent cosmetic surgery without his consent,” an official statement said. Pathology results, which take 10–20 days, will provide definitive answers. The doctor involved is reportedly the teenager’s stepfather, complicating the legal and family situation.

Farewell to Paloma Nicole

On September 22, hundreds attended Paloma Nicole’s funeral at the Cathedral of Durango. Social media showed Carlos clinging to his daughter’s coffin, demanding justice.

He shared a message: “Our lives changed forever the day you left for heaven. With pain but gratitude for your light, we invite everyone to a triduum of masses to honor your memory. Your prayers will be an invaluable comfort.”

The Ongoing Debate

Authorities continue to analyze medical files, consents, and hospital procedures. The pathology report will be key in determining the cause of death.

The case has ignited debates over cosmetic surgery on minors and the need to strengthen consent protocols in private clinics. The investigation seeks to clarify potential medical negligence and establish legal responsibility for those involved.
